Alaska

In 2000 we went on a cruise to Alaska… well… it only took just a breath of that crisp air and a glimpse of the majestic mountains to let us know that there was a”real” Alaska off that cruise ship….Alaska called our name and since 2001 we have been going to Kenai Penisular to fish and renew our bodies and spirits.  We have made wonderful friends and caught many, many pounds of fish.  If you want tips and a guide suggestion, we know just the man.  Our guide, Reubin Payne (Alaska Widespread Fishing Adventures)has a motto…”Come as a client, leave as a friend”…  it only took one day with him on that gorgeous aqua blue river and we were hooked!

I have taken many hundreds, maybe thousands of pictures and a few have made their way to magazines and corporate calendars.  I even won a contest with one picture.  I will look and find that picture.  Like Jack says …”Lord willing”… we will be there on August 1, 2012.

This was one of those “dream” days. We had the river all to ourselves and the fish were bountiful. Reubin cooked one of the fish on a flat hot rock and we feasted. No bears, no people, no bugs, blue sky, one amazing day!

This was our last day. I had already caught two and was taking a break. This was a nice sockeye, later that afternoon Jack went back and caught a hog of a 12 lbs silver salmon. This was also the same day and spot where the moose walked by us. How many days is it until 8/1/2011?

Homer, Alaska. It was a blistery, rocking, wet day. Tomorrow is our last day to fish. We are bringing home 200 lbs. of processed salmon, halibut, and clams. What other kind of vacation can you go on and bring back food? We will be sharing!

This was taken with my Canon Elph point & shoot, this is not a zoom lens. The moose just walked up to where we were fishing… the movement that you see was me getting behind a cleaning table. They just walked right on by and never looked back. WHOW!

Here are few pictures posted on Facebook from August 2010.>>>>
